CONSTRUCTION – FRP

Fibreglass Reinforced Plastic - The hull, decks and superstructure are of foam and balsa cored E-glass construction. The vessel is built to Det norske Veritas Letter of Compliance covering hull, decks, superstructure and enclosures.

WATERTIGHT BULKHEADS

Watertight bulkheads are located in front of the crew heads, the forward and aft ends of the engine room and the aft end of the owner's cabin. Access to the engine room is via a watertight door through the aft bulkhead.

MAIN PROPULSION Main propulsion is provided by a pair of Caterpillar 3406 C marine diesel engines, each producing 322 Brake Horsepower through ZF gears to Aquamet shafts turning Michigan propellers. GENERATORS Power generation is provided a pair of Northern Lights 40 kW generators. The electrical system provides for both marina connections and mechanical charging using a Atlas Shorpower converter and a Mass battery charger. 230V outlets and systems are supplied from a Mass 230V Power Inverter. THRUSTERS Two fixed Arcturus 50 hp hydraulic thrusters are fitted fore and aft. STEERING Two steering stations are fitted. The master station in the wheelhouse and secondary station on the flybridge are fitted with Mini Marex throttles. Both stations are wheel-steered via a power-assisted Sumner helm pump. TANKAGE

Black and Grey water tanks are built into the hull structure with facilities for overboard or dockside discharge. Fuel and water tanks are built into the hull structure with a total fuel capacity of approximately 24 000 L and a total water capacity of 4 000 L. A pair of 1200 Gal. per day desalinators is also installed.

ANCHORS

Two custom-made stainless steel stockless anchors are fitted to stainless steel bow indents and attached with galvanised swivels and shackles to two 100m rodes of 16mm shortlink galvanised chain through two 6 000 lb Simpson Lawrence windlasses.

TEAK DECKING The foredeck, Portuguese flybridge, side decks, aft deck and boarding platform are finished in 16 mm quartersawn teak planks, approximately 50 mm wide and payed with black caulking compound. DECK FITTINGS Deck fittings include eight polished stainless steel mooring cleats and eight polished stainless steel fairleads. Handrails are 50mm diameter hand-polished 316 stainless steel. An electric/hydraulic davit is fitted to the boat deck. CLOSURES Closures include 17 D-ended stainless steel portholes with stainless steel deadlights. The wheelhouse screen and side windows are in flat panes of chemically toughened glass. PAINT All exterior surfaces are filled, faired and finish coated with Awlgrip products in accordance with US Paints' specification. FIREFIGHTING

An automated fire detection and extinguishing system is fitted to the engine room. Smoke detectors are fitted in each cabin, living space and machinery space with portable extinguishers distributed around the vessel.

AIRCONDITIONING

A chilled water Cruisair air conditioning system is installed throughout the vessel to a total of 250000 BTU. Ducted air extraction is fitted to the galley and bathrooms.

DOMESTIC SYSTEMS The two 1200 Gal. per day desalination watermakers supply the domestic-pressure fresh water system for continuous hot and cold water. The water closets and accompanying treatment system is by Microphor. The quartz-halogen interior light fittings are Forcato or equivalent with individual transformers. APPLIANCES The galley is fitted with a four-burner stainless steel gas stove/oven, electric extraction system, microwave oven, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, waste disposer and trash compactor. The crew galley includes a refrigerator-freezer, cooking top and oven and a Philco automatic washing/drying machine. ELECTRICS AND ELECTRONICS The generator supplies continuous alternating current to all domestic equipment, lighting and entertainment. An Atlas Shorpower seamless conditioner is installed to accept the various inputs required. Battery chargers supply ships battery banks and machinery starting, as well as emergency, navigation and electronic supply. A full range of navigation and entertainment equipment is provided.
